Are the orange and purple decks the same cards?

No. The purple deck is the second deck in the series, with its own set of ideas, such as mulch pits, natural cooling, willow feeders and rocket kilns. The orange deck is the original, with cards like hugelkultur, the wofati, and the rocket mass heater. Together they make a great pair.

How many orange decks are left?

Only a limited number. The orange deck is running out, and once the remaining stock is gone it will no longer be available here. If you want one for yourself or for gifts, we recommend ordering now.

Can I play regular card games with them?

Yes. Both decks are fully playable: 52 standard cards with the usual suits and ranks, plus 2 jokers. The orange deck also includes a bonus thank-you card. The permaculture content sits alongside the suit and rank on each card.

Is this a good gift for a beginner?

Very much so. Each card introduces one idea with an illustration and short notes, so beginners, kids, and experienced growers can all find something new. As one PDC graduate put it, the cards “hold value” at every level.

Can I buy just one kind of deck?

Yes. Under each combo you’ll find packs of a single deck: 2 or 12 orange decks, or 2 or 12 purple decks.
